Images of South America On-going Project
This series is an on-going project to document Burns' travels through South America. From 2010 to 2011 he lived in Chile and traveled to Argentina, Uruguay, and Brazil. He moved to Brazil in 2011. These images reflect what he has seen and felt during his excursions. Many of the images do not have backgrounds, and this is intentional. Burns´ approach to creating art requires that he get to the fundamental level of his attachment to the subject. As a result, subjects often don´t require a background in order to say what they need to say. Because he has strong connections in South America, this is a project that will continue throughout his career regardless of where he resides. One of his next steps is to actually take a freight ship from North America or Europe to South America to explore the modern-day sense of colonialism that's still felt in South America.
