Respublika Festival: Dec 2017 - Jan 2018For: Reeve and Melissa Waud Project: Contrasting the media's message against the audience's understanding of reality. Taking the gap between the two, and imagining that it is a real place, a town of sorts. Creating images that examine what the "town" looks like. Purpose of contact: Seeking a partnership with the Waud family that would allow Greg Mason Burns to attend the Respiblika Festival in Cyprus in December, 2017, and in return offer the Waud family, through their support, access to the project and its works. Ask: $3,500. Total cost of trip is estimated to be $4,500, with $2,00 allocated to the flight, $1,000 for shipping, and the rest for the hotel for 7-10 days and food. Description of Images: The following images depict various aspects of the "town" that exists in the media-audience gap explained above. This includes the buildings, the people, and the atmosphere. Many of these images are abstract drawings and paintings of real places, and many are imagined images that I came up with. The images I applied to the festival are noted below in red.
